Why Travel With Me? AKA – What’s in it for you?
Storytelling: I’m at my best when I’m telling stories. When people listen to stories, their mindset becomes more receptive, placing them in the best position to understand the essence of a place and its people.
Tour Guide and Speaker: For over a decade, I have worked as a tour guide in Israel and in the USA. I have given talks in diverse settings – business, academic, entertainment – both online and in person.
America is in My Blood: I was born in the USA, grew up in Israel and have lived in the USA on and off for many years. I am very connected to American culture, I know American history, and feel like an American.
The only Israeli Tour Guide in New Orleans:
- In 2017 I moved to New Orleans, becoming the only Israeli tour guide who lives in the city and guides in Hebrew.
- Nowadays I often travel to New Orleans to guide Israeli groups in Hebrew.
- I give talks about New Orleans at festivals and to nonprofits, advise Israeli tourists who plan to travel to the city, and build comprehensive travel plans.
Anecdotes: I love surprising my tourists with lesser-known stories and information. Stories about what is different, unique and amusing, as well as about what is right under our noses (or over our heads) are what add flavor to life.
A Warm Embrace: To me, there is nothing more interesting than direct encounters. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and learning about their backgrounds, what drives them, and how they cope with challenges in their lives.
Connecting Worlds:
- I studied and practiced law in Israel.
- I studied sport management and worked in this field both in Israel and the USA.
- And, of course, I am a tour guide in Israel and in the USA.
In all these fields and experiences, I met with many kinds of people. These encounters have enriched my content world and the way I connect to each individual.
Israeli American: Being an Israeli American connects me to the perspective of an Israeli in the USA and to the perspective of an American in Israel. I know how to speak the “language” of the people I host on my tours.
Connecting Languages: I have been a Hebrew-English translator for more than 23 years. What’s more important is that I am a translator of the culture in the places that I guide. Translation also means translating nuances, customs, and behavior.
Local and Outsider – both in Israel and in the USA: I know what it’s like to feel like a stranger in each of these places, and I also know what it’s like to feel like a local. This allows me to adopt the appropriate perspective.
